Bookbinding & Botanicals

This Bookbinding & Botanicals workshops series covers how to make a set of reusable botanical stamps and shares 3 book projects that incorporate your own hand-printed papers –

  • Japanese Stab twig book – stitch a series of single sheets together with a twig spine and use your stamps to decorate the front and back cover.
  • Cut and fold book – create some effective wax leaf rubbings, combine with your botanical stamps and make a no-stitch book with fold out leaf prints.
  • Pressed leaf notebook – make a collaged book cover with pressed leaves and leaf cut outs, stitch together with a pamphlet stitch and add a wind round fastening.

Scroll through gallery below to see examples of the books and printing techniques covered in this workshop.

This workshop is a great excuse to get out in nature, forage some leaves and be inspired by what’s growing on your doorstep! The botanical stamps I show you how to make in this workshop can be reused again and again to make everything from decorative paper to artwork, cards and wrapping paper – it’s a great technique that gives impressive results. The books themselves make for lovely personalised gifts too!

My series of video instructions take you through the making process step-by-step and you will have continued access, meaning that you can work through the 3 bookbinding projects at your own pace and revisit for a reminder of the technique when needed. Access to these is via a password protected page on my website, login details will be sent within 48 hours of purchase.

This workshop is open to adults & children (with some supervision, especially when it comes to using the pointy tools) and can be a great thing to do together!
